Zurich – or why the alphabet should run from Z to A

Ever wondered why the alphabet starts with an A and ends with a Z? Ever thought it maybe should be the other way round?

Well – the people of Zurich would probably quite like this idea…

Because despite being one of the most attractive cities in the world it tends to figure last in both guide books and on websites – just because of its initial letter!

So let’s turn the alphabet around for once and give you 26 Z to A reasons why our city should be on the top of your list – and not at the bottom.

Les Clefs d'Or Zurich Origins

Friendship | Helpfulness | collegiality

Our “Cercle des Concierges Zurich” celebrated its 70th birthday in 2020. The association was foundedin 1950, three years prior to the national organization “Les Clefs d’Or Suisse” and two years prior tothe international organization “Union Européenne des Portiers des Grands Hôtels “Les Clefs d’Or’”(today’s “Union des Concierges d’Hôtels”) 1952 in Cannes. At the time, national carrier “Swissair” had invited all concierges of Zurich for a scenic flight and during this very event the Head Concierge of the St. Gotthard Hotel Mr Oskar Wirth took the opportunity to found our professional circle of like-minded people.
