What to do in Vaud and Valais?

The Canton of Vaud is a peaceful country place – the Swiss postcard between small towns, pretty fields and high mountains.

Lausanne, its capital, is also the Olympic Capital, with the IOC headquarters and the IOC Museum. Lausanne’s Cathedral is Switzerland’s most significant Gothic monument and a master peace of medieval constructions.

Close by, Lavaux Vineyard – a UNESCO site – is a breathtaking landscape with ten thousand terraces facing the Alps and Lake Geneva.
A walk through its paths and a wine tasting are mandatory!
The area also hosts the Chaplin’s World, the family home of Charly Chaplin, and going a bit further, the majestic medieval fortress of Castle of Chillon settled on one of Lake Geneva’s islands.

These are only some of the wonders that will take you from the city to the Lake and through the high crests of the Alps.

Speaking about the Alps, there is no place like Valais to feel their wild strength and see the result of the patient work of many generations of men and women that created these gentle green heights inhabited in summer by cows. The steepest vineyards surround its rivers and towns at the bottom of the valley, and as soon as you reach some heights, the Alps scenery with its glaciers will amaze you with their massive presence.

This is the best place to taste a cheese fondu and to cheer the beauty and diversity of this corner of Switzerland!
